Marius looked around the room that would be his office and sighed. He had not figured his life would turn out this way.
"What's wrong daddy?" Lucius said looking up at him. "You miss mummy again?"
"No Luce," Marius said looking down at his son whom had his mother's eyes. "I'm just nervous about my new job. Remember what I told you, when daddy is working, you have to be good for Grandma right?"
"Of course daddy," Lucius said with a small smile. "Grandma has been teaching me things like reading and writing and Latin. She said that I will be smarter than everyone else if I know Latin."
"Your grandma is right about that. I know Latin too, as well as your auntie and uncle," Marius said as he sat at the desk in the corner of the room. "Now you go and read the book that Grandma asked you to while I get organized."

Josepha Slytherin decided she'd welcome Marius to the staff personally. She had with her a basket full of goodies (some fruits like apples, oranges, pears as well as chocolate frogs and bertie botts and some things to make hot chocolate and tea). She knocked on the door "Marius dear are you in there? Oh I mean Professor Snape" she smiled to herself.

Marius looked up from his desk and blinked when he heard himself be addressed as Professor Snape. "Professor Snape is my dad," he said shaking his head. "I'm here, just come on in." He knew this would take some time to get used to.

Josepha handed him the basket and then tried to hug him but it was difficult with the basket in between them "How are you young Professor Snape? Would you really rather me call you Marius still? Remember me child? Professor Slytherin... its been a while since I've seen you ... you did graduate a few years back and then your family went a way for a while" she frowned a bit "and I'm deeply sorry for everything that you've gone through.. but I know you probably don't want to talk about that" then she saw Lucius "Oh my goodness what a handsome little thing he's growing up to be. I brought some treats for you and your dad" she smiled at the boy. She looked back up at Marius "I just wanted to welcome you to the staff. Your father must be so proud of you and your mother of course. I'm gonna stop by and chat with her later." Josepha could definatly talk a lot.

Marius smiled and gestured to the seat on the other side of the desk. "Please, feel free to sit and stay a while unless you are busy. I remember you. The past year was rough, but I need to be strong for Lucius." He smiled over at his son. "Come over and meet Professor Slytherin Lucius. You'll be learning from her in about 5 years."
Lucius got over and smiled at her. He was growing into a clone of his father and grandfather, except he had his mother's bright gray eyes. "Pleased to meet you Professor," he said, holding out his hand.

Josepha beamed "Oh good. I'm glad you remember me. That's very good."
Then she shook litte Lucius' hand "Oh you are so polite. Its simply very wonderful." She looked up at Marius "well so far he seems to be an enchanting child... at this age my children were just all over the place.... running wild like monkeys in a zoo... well at least my 4 younger children... the first two.. Lyra and Mor were delightful children for the most part... Jack was alright" she laughed "sorry I can tell you stories about my children that will leave you shocked I"m sure..." she took a seat "I think I can stay for a little bit. Well you probably remember Boa don't you? She was a year younger than you. She adored your father. She'll be delighted when she hears that you and your dad are back in town again. She just got married to Hunte Wood... do you remember him at all? Oh I'm so happy for her to be settling down. She was a wild one. And Jack, he was a year older than you I believe... he's married to Dorothy his old girlfriend from Hogwarts. They just had a baby... she is a beautiful redheaded thing named Ruby". She smiled waiting for Marius to say something. She knew she could be over powering the way she chatted.

"Wow, little Boa is married?" he asked a little dumbfounded. He rememberd she had a bit of a crush on him before he fell for Akhara. "Boa is a really great girl, she deserves happiness. And Jack getting married too? Well, now that they are out of school it does make sense. My marriage was great, I do miss her, but I'm trying not to think of that too much. At least I have my Luce, a little piece of his mummy that will always be here. He used to be very wild, but he had to grow up a lot last year, I feel bad about it, but I'm doing my best to try to let him be a kid."
"Don't feel bad daddy," Lucius said as he took an apple from the basket and took a bite. He then smiled at Professor Slytherin and returned to the book he was reading when she came in.
"I'm going to teach him how to ride a broom so he can cause some trouble," Marius said with a small smile. "He's got to learn to tap into his Malfoy side."

Jospeha said "Yeah Boa... I was really shocked. She was engaged to Viggo Krum for a while last year... and then out of nowhere she dumped him and not long after she was engaged to Hunter... oh well... at least she figured out what she wanted in the end." She eyed the young child "yes, I can see his mother in those eyes of his. So Draco decided to leave the country for good then? That's what I've been hearing.... when I was kid at Hogwarts I was rebellious... compeltely wild .. and I idolized Draco who was a year older than me... luckily both us grew up and became more civilized. I just hope he doesn't do anything drastic... I know what a horrible state he must be in" then she got quiet thinking she might have overstepped her boundry keeping such a sore subject going.

"He left right after the funeral," Marius said quietly so that Lucius wouldn't overhear. "He disagreed with what my wishes were in regards to her treatment and arrangements, and left. My father feels bad about it, he and Mr. Malfoy had gotten close over the years, more like friends even with the gap in ages. Akhara was my wife and it was my legal rights to have her treatments stopped when she wasn't responding to anything. I knew she wasn't really there anymore and I didn't want Lucius to watch his mother suffer in that way anymore." He faded off, not knowing what else to say.

Josepha said "yes, horrible situations" she didn't want him to linger on this though so she got up and said "well dear you start looking forward. You are about to be a professor at one of the most famous and respected schools of witchcraft and wizardry in the world. Its quiet an accomplishment for someone your age to be on the staff already. Lucius seems to be doing well and I'm sure you mum and dad will help you with anything. They were always so good to you and your younger siblings. Wonderful people. I have to be going now... make sure my class rolls are in order and things like that." she went to the doorway 'but if you ever need anything you can ask ok. Don't worry I don't bite" she joked with him hoping to lighten up the mood before she left.

"Well it does run in the family," Marius said with a smile as she was leaving. "My father began teaching at 20 as well." He couldn't really believe that his father was once in his place, being fresh from school himself and back here teaching. 'I just hope that the older students will listen to me....' he thought to himself.
"It was nice to meet you Professor Slytherin," Lucius said looking up from the book as she left. "Thank you for the apple."
